Namakkal City Municipal Corporation is converting biodegradable waste into organic manure and distributing it to the public and farmers, with the product sold at ₹20 a kg and supplied free of cost to farmers.
Biodegradable waste collected across the corporation limits is transported to seven micro-composting centres, where it is processed using machinery to produce organic manure.
At the Namakkal Uzhavar Sandhai, 541 kg of organic manure has been sold to farmers at ₹20 a kg.
In addition, a total of 3,531 tonnes of organic manure was distributed free of cost to farmers up to September during the 2025–26 financial year, Corporation Commissioner Selva Balaji said.
