Forest Department personnel rescued a 13-foot-long python found in an agricultural field near Gudiyatham in Vellore district and released it into the Kallapadi reserve forest.
Gangadharan, a farmer from Ramapuram village near Gudiyatham, was harvesting fodder crops in his field when he spotted the large python lying among the crops and apparently unable to move through them. He was shocked by the sight.
He alerted Forest Ranger Pradeep Kumar, following which forest personnel rushed to the spot and carefully captured the 13-foot-long python in a sack.
The snake was subsequently released into the Kallapadi reserve forest.
