The first Erode district-level school and college kickboxing competition was held at Chellammal Thirumana Mandapam on Sunday.
Former MLA K.S. Thennarasu presided over the event. The competition was judged by N. Premkumar of Salem, S.S. Abhishek of Namakkal and Ganesh of Salem and organised by Yusuf, general secretary of the Erode District Kickboxing Association.
The competition was inaugurated by S. Thiralkumar, LJK State Deputy General Secretary; C.S. Sathiyamoorthy, LJK State Organising Secretary; C.S. Prabhu, LJK Erode District East Secretary; and Er. S. Arulkumar.
Erode District Sports Officer, C. Divyanageswari and Erode District Physical Education Inspector, S. Solomon attended as special guests. B. Bhaskar, BJP Erode South district vice-president, and other representatives from sports and business organisations also participated.
Those present included S. Haja Sherif of RKM Visual Opticals; M. Rajeshkumar, deputy secretary of BOKBA; A. Sharif, deputy secretary of EDKBA; P. Sagaya Suresh, creative director of Ad Magix; and S. Balan of Sri Raghavendra Enterprises.
Karate and martial arts representatives T. Parameswaran, S.S. Vimal, Y. Mustafa, L. Anthony Peter, S. Sadasivam and C. Suresh also attended. Students K.C. Prabin and M. Sheikh Mohammed participated in the event. Sangam deputy secretary Rabin David Kumar proposed a vote of thanks.
