There is growing anticipation over whether the food court being developed with 41 outlets in Tiruchi will be opened to the public on November 1. Allocation of shops has been completed, while work on pushcarts and electrical connections are under way.
The food court is being established in the pedestrian park area along Race Course Road in Khajamalai, near the Anna Stadium. The facility is coming up opposite the Tamil Nadu Hotel, operated by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation. It will house 41 outlets offering a variety of food items to the public.
Shop allotments have reportedly been completed. Work on preparing pushcarts for the outlets and arrangements for providing electricity are under way, indicating that the project is in its final stages.
The ‘Healthy and Hygienic Food Street’ (HHFS) initiative is being implemented to regulate food sales in Tiruchi and ensure that the public has access to hygienically prepared food.
