Train services between Nagercoil and Thiruvananthapuram resumed after a seven-hour disruption caused by a landslip near Parassala, close to the Kanyakumari district border, in the early hours of Thursday.
The incident occurred around 2 a.m., when a train derailed following the landslip, disrupting rail traffic along the route. Southern Railway subsequently announced the cancellation of six trains.
Railway personnel worked on a war footing to clear the soil that had slipped onto the tracks and restored the damaged section.
After nearly seven hours of repair work, the tracks were restored and train services resumed, bringing relief to passengers affected by the disruption.
