The Coimbatore International Airport, operated by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), observed Yatri Seva Abhiyan 2026 from September 17 to October 10 to improve passenger facilities, service quality and safety.
As part of the campaign, regular inspections were conducted to assess cleanliness, seating arrangements, charging points, signboards, drinking water facilities, toilets, baggage handling services, digital facilities and food outlets at the airport terminal. Passenger feedback was also collected to identify shortcomings and improve services.
Contact details were displayed on Flight Information Display Systems (FIDS), while QR code-based feedback facilities were introduced to enable passengers to share their suggestions and complaints. Awareness programmes were also conducted on security screening procedures and prohibited items to facilitate smooth passenger screening.
As part of the campaign, World Tourism Day was celebrated at the airport on September 27. Passengers were welcomed in a traditional manner, and cultural programmes were organised to showcase the cultural heritage of Coimbatore and its surrounding regions.
The campaign also included the presentation of appreciation certificates to airline employees in recognition of their services and contributions to passenger assistance.
The airport also reviewed passenger movement, parking facilities and traffic management to identify and address operational issues. Cleaning activities were undertaken to maintain hygiene across the airport premises. An evacuation drill was also conducted to strengthen emergency preparedness, coordination among stakeholders and passenger safety.
The campaign was carried out with the coordinated participation of airport staff, airlines, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and other stakeholders. The initiative aimed to improve passenger services and provide a safe, smooth and comfortable travel experience.
